Created by master perfumer Dominique Ropion under the visionary direction of Frédéric Malle, this fragrance embodies bold sophistication, intense femininity and timeless grace.
Inspired by the eponymous novel by Henry James, "Portrait of a Lady" (1881) paints the olfactory portrait of a woman who dares to live on her own terms. Charismatic and mysterious, she stands out for her innate charm and assertive personality. Like the personality of the wearer, it reveals a structure that is both diverse and harmonious.
The warmth of cinnamon and clove as well as the fruity notes of raspberry and blackcurrant reveal a fiery heart of patchouli, Ylang-Ylang and an overdose of Turkish rose. This formula with opulent dosages undoubtedly contains one of the major dosages of Turkish rose essence in perfumery: it would take almost 400 flowers to create a 100ml bottle. The result is an extreme sweetness but full of character, where rose blossoms on a base of benzoin, sandalwood, musk, patchouli and incense.
This ultra-limited 15th anniversary edition of "Portrait of a Lady", in its lacquered red bottle, is much more than a perfume: always irresistible, infinitely refined, it remains a timeless statement of style and character.
